About the Filmmakers SANDRA DICKSON, CHURCHILL ROBERTS, CINDY HILL and CARA PILSON have co-produced and written several documentaries for national distribution on PBS. Their most recent film was the critically acclaimed Negroes with Guns: Rob Williams and Black Power, which aired in 2006 on the PBS series Independent Lens and won the Erik Barnouw Award for Outstanding Historical Documentary. Their previous film, Freedom Never Dies: The Legacy of Harry T. Moore, also won the Barnouw Award. Other documentaries include Giving Up the Canal, Campaign for Cuba, Last Days of the Revolution and Deciding Who Dies, all of which have been distributed internationally as well as on video. The team has received grants from the National Endowment for the Humanities, the NEA, the North Carolina Humanities Council, Freedom Forum and the Corporation for Public Broadcasting. Roberts and Churchill are Co-Directors of The Documentary Institute, The College of Journalism and Communications, The University of Florida; Cindy Hill and Cara Pilson are the InstituteÕs Associate Directors.
