Magazine editor Charles Hawley

Whether it’s by public transportation or on a bicycle, Charles Hawley makes his way to Der Spiegel's office each morning where he edits and posts articles to the English version of the weekly magazine's Web site. The 37-year-old journalist is originally from Seattle, and has lived in Germany for 10 years. Before coming to Berlin six years ago, he worked in Munich as a freelancer. Although his ideal job would be reporting out on the streets every day, Hawley says he has fun working as an online editor. He enjoys the long days of summer in Berlin.
