LAURIE
MICHAELSON -- Hello! I am a graduate student at UF in the
College of Journalism, working towards my master's in advertising. I
went to the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh, and got my BA in
Religious and Cultural Studies. I am a self-taught photographer who
loves to travel the world. During undergrad, I studied abroad in
Tanzania, Africa and created my first international photo story. I
cannot wait to get to Berlin to start taking photographs, and meet
everyone. |
|
MICHELLE ASHWORTH -- Hey! I am
a 23-year-old senior journalism major and a family, youth and
community sciences minor. My area of focus is design, but I also
love photography. I looked for the right study abroad program for a
couple months before choosing this trip to Berlin. I can't wait
to take amazing photos and experience a new culture. I
recently traveled to Costa Rica, but I have never been to Europe. I
couldn't be more excited!

AMANDA ADAMS --
I'm a
20-year-old journalism major with minors in English, Portuguese and
Spanish. I love learning new languages, experiencing different
cultures and traveling. I feel like the world changes when I look
through a camera lens, and I love that. I'm from Palm Beach and
have visited France and England before but never Germany. I can't
wait to explore this fascinating city. |

MARISSA PRIETO --
Hey guys! I'm a
19-year-old journalism major and this is my second year at UF. I'm
from Fort Lauderdale, just a few hours south of Gainesville. This is
my first time taking a photography class and I'm anxious to get
started up in the spring. I love to travel and for the past two
summers I have been lucky enough to spend at least two weeks
travelling in different countries in Europe. I have been to Berlin
once before, but seeing as it was only for two days, I'm really
looking forward to spending an extended period of time there. I'm
also excited to spend my 20th birthday on our first day in Berlin! |
|
SHEMUEL ARRINDELL
-- Hey, I'm a 21-year-old
third-year journalism major with a minor in history. I love to
travel and gain/capture new experiences using my camera.
Photojournalism is my passion and I hope this trip will teach me
ways to improve my photography. This trip will be my first study
aboard trip as well as my first time in Germany. I'm looking
forward to working with you guys and enjoying the time we have
together.

MATTHEW RIVA --
Hola! I'm a 17-year-old journalism major with a
concentration in photojournalism (even though it should be a legit
separate major). I've been to Europe twice before, and once to
Germany. Although I don't speak German, this trip is going to be the
best part of my summer, and I'll be joining Marissa in celebrating
my b-day overseas. I can't wait to travel Berlin with everyone and
take some pictures!

NICOLE
CRISP -- Hey everyone! I'm a 21-year-old
junior majoring in journalism, with a minor in business
administration. I lived in Germany for six years when I was much
younger so I'm really excited to use this opportunity to refresh my
memory of the country and the language. I've always liked taking
pictures and I'm hoping to continue doing it professionally in the
future. I'm still learning, so I'm hoping to gain a lot from this
trip and everyone I'm traveling with. Bis bald!

MARCELA SUTER --
I am a 20-year-old journalism major with a minor
in international development and humanitarian assistance. My goal is
to become a humanitarian photographer. I love traveling and being
exposed to different cultures. I am very exited about going to
Berlin this summer. I just wish we could stay longer! |
|
DAVID GARDNER --
I'm a 20-year-old journalism and psychology
major. I want to be sports writer, but I have developed a passion
for taking pictures recently. I have been to Berlin once before, but
it was only for a couple of days, so I'm looking forward to
exploring the city and the culture in greater depth.

|
JESSE WALKER --
I'm a 20-year-old Telecom major. I love
traveling and surprisingly, this will be my first trip to Europe.
I'll also be celebrating my birthday during the trip. I've worked
in sports production for the last two years, so I'm looking forward
to shooting something more interesting in Berlin! |
|
MARIA CASTILLO --
Hallo! I'm a current journalism student at the
University of South Florida. It seems that traveling will always be
a part of my life; since I was born in Lima, Peru and my mother has
been living in Germany for about 6 years. Germany is a beautiful
country, and I'm glad I can learn more about it. I'm extremely
excited to join the class, and very grateful that UF collaborates
with other universities for Study Abroad. |
|
NATASHA SCHOULTZ --
Hey everyone! I'm a sophomore journalism and and anthropology
double major. I'm 20 and a Miami native. I'm so pumped for this
trip because I love to travel and it's going to be my first time
in Europe. I'm also excited to put my snap-happy tendencies to
good use alongside my writing, which is my passion. I can't wait
to get to know everyone as we explore Berlin!

JOHN FREEMAN
-- I'm the professor taking the group to Berlin. This photo was
taken during my first experience living in Germany, when I was
in the second, third and fourth grades in Rodenbach, near Ramstein
Air Force Base. I've grown some since then. My father was later
assigned to Berlin, where I graduated from high school. I'm a
real sucker for nostalgia, and look forward to returning to this
fascinating city for my sixth study-abroad trip. My family thinks
that red hat belonged to my twin sister, but no one remembers why
I'm wearing it.
